6 Tips to Fix Instagram’s Mention Story White Screen Problem
Are you getting a white screen when sharing a mention story on Instagram? If yes, don’t worry! You are not alone. In the last few hours, several IG users have reported on Reddit and Twitter that when they share someone’s reel or post to their story, the screen goes white.
There can be some major reasons for this problem, like a corrupted cache, an outdated Instagram app, a device compatibility issue, multiple Instagram accounts logged in, etc. However, below I have shared some troubleshooting tips that might help you to fix this issue on Android and iPhone.

1. Force Stop Instagram App
Sometimes, the Instagram app becomes incompatible with the device, causing many features to malfunction. Force Stop is a feature in Android devices that helps in restarting Instagram.
- Open Instagram App and Then Go to Mobile Settings.
- Navigate to Apps > All Apps > Instagram.
- Simply, Tap on Force Stop Button.
- Tap on OK to Confirm the Action.

2. Clear Instagram App Cache (Android)
All Android apps store some data as cache, which can sometimes become corrupted. In such a case, the app may crash or freeze repeatedly. Clearing this corrupted cache can get rid of this problem.
- Open Settings App on Your Phone.
- Navigate to Apps > All Apps > Instagram.
- Tap on Storage & Cache.
- Tap on Clear Cache.

3. Offload Instagram App (iPhone)
Unfortunately, unlike Android, you cannot clear the cache of an app on iPhone. However, iPhone provides you with an option called Offload Apps, which helps you clear outdated data from your apps.
For this, go to iPhone’s Settings > iPhone Storage > Instagram App > Offload App > Offload App to Confirm > Reinstall App.

4. Keep Only One Account
Nowadays users manage multiple accounts in a single Instagram app. Although Instagram allows this, sometimes having multiple accounts causes some features to not work properly, especially newer ones.
So my suggestion is that if you are logged in to multiple accounts, keep the main account and log out from all others and then check if the issue still persists.
5. Log Out and Log Back In
If you use only one account, you should perform this action once. This action re-establishes sync between your account and the app, which often resolves account synchronization issues.
For this, go to your Instagram profile, tap on the three lines at the top, scroll down, and then tap on the logout button. After this, log in to your account again with your username and password.

6. Update Your Instagram App
If the Mention Story white screen issue on Instagram still persists after completing all the above methods, then it’s time to update the Instagram app. Often the older version of the app does not perform properly due to bugs or glitches. But as soon as you update the app, all the problems get resolved.
