How to Stop WeChat from Automatically Saving Photos and Videos
Like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger, the WeChat app has an auto-save media feature that saves photos and videos received in chat to the phone’s gallery. If you want to get rid of it, it is possible. In this article, I have shared how you can stop WeChat from automatically saving photos and videos on Android and iPhone.
WeChat’s auto-save photos and videos feature is very helpful, but it also has some disadvantages. It fills up your album with unnecessary photos and videos, which can create storage issues in the phone. On the other hand, if you have limited internet data, then it can drain your data very quickly.

How to Stop WeChat from Automatically Saving Photos and Videos
Whether you are an Android user or an iPhone user, you can easily manage auto-download media file settings in the WeChat app. Once you configure this setting, the WeChat app will not automatically save any photos or videos to your device’s gallery unless you manually download them.
To turn off or disable auto-save photos and videos on WeChat:
- Open WeChat App on Your Android or iPhone.
- Go to Me Section and Tap on Settings.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on Photos, Videos, Files & Calls.
- Simply, Turn Off Toggles for ‘Auto-Download’, ‘Photos’, and ‘Video’.
That’s it! Now unless you download any file, photo, or video from WeChat Chat yourself, it will not be automatically saved in the device gallery.
