YouTube Shorts are in vertical format by default, but did you know that you now can watch them in horizontal, i.e., landscape mode, instead of vertical? Yes! YouTube has recently rolled out a feature that allows users to watch Shorts in a rotated format without any cropping.
Vertical scrolling requires you to hold your phone upright, but YouTube’s new “Rotate Shorts” feature gives you freedom from all this. Rotate Shorts is an accessibility-based feature that is now available exclusively in the YouTube app for Android and iPhone.
To watch YouTube Shorts in landscape mode, it is mandatory to enable the “Rotate Shorts” feature. By default, this feature is disabled in the YouTube app, but enabling it is very simple. This feature will completely change the experience of watching Shorts while lying on your bed.
To view YouTube Shorts in landscape orientation:
First of All Update Your YouTube App from Play Store or App Store.
Launch the YouTube App.
Tap on “You” Option at Bottom Right Corner and Then “Settings” Icon.
Scroll Down and Tap on Accessibility.
Simply, Turn On the ‘Rotate Shorts’ Toggle.
Note: One more thing, make sure that auto-rotate is enabled on your phone.
That’s all! Now, as soon as you play a Short and rotate the phone to landscape mode, Shorts will switch to a new landscape orientation where the controls (like the like, comment, and share icons) will appear on the right side and a scrub bar at the bottom.
YouTube Shorts in Landscape Mode Option Not Showing Problem
If you can’t see the “Rotate Shorts” option in the app’s accessibility settings to view YouTube Shorts in landscape mode, don’t worry! You’re not alone. This feature is currently only supported on select devices like the latest Google Pixel phones.
Since this is a completely new feature, it will be rolled out gradually to everyone, which may take some time. However, if you are not a Google Pixel user, meaning you use another phone like Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Nothing Phone, Redmi, etc., then you should update the YouTube app from the Play Store.
