Currently, you can only tag people on WhatsApp Status who are saved in your contacts. This means that if you have chatted with someone without saving their number, you cannot mention them in your status. How to Mention Someone in WhatsApp Status on Android
The “@” symbol has been added to WhatsApp Status to tag friends or other people saved in Contacts. And people viewing your status won’t be able to see the person you mentioned.
Currently, you can tag only a maximum of 5 people in a status. To use the tagging feature in WhatsApp status, follow the steps given below.
To tag people on your WhatsApp status:
1. Go to Play Store and Update Your WhatsApp to the Latest Version.
2. Open WhatsApp and Go to Status or Updates Tab.
3. Tap on My Status ‘+’ Icon at the Top Status Bar.
4. Select a Picture or Video from Your Gallery.
5. Now Tap on “@” Icon at Right Side in the Caption Area.
6. Now Select the People from Your Contact List and Tap on Done (✓) Icon.
7. Now Share This Tagged Status on Your WhatsApp.
That’s it! Now the people you selected are mentioned in your WhatsApp status. And with that, they will also get a notification that they have been mentioned privately in someone’s WhatsApp status.
